We are looking for a Volunteer Gaming Buddy/Befriender who can meet regularly with a person with support in a supported living service in Shirley, Southampton. At SeeAbility we specialise in supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, who may also have sight loss, to realise their goals each day.
What will I be doing?
- Gaming with the person we support, providing friendly competition & company.
- Share tips & tricks to help improve their skills & confidence.
- Our volunteer will need to be confident in playing X-box games, be friendly and available to volunteer for a couple of hours a week.
Skills
- To be kind, empathetic and friendly
- To have a good sense of humour, love to chat and be a good listener
- Meet regularly to play computer games & to be punctual and dependable.
- To be able to deal with information in line with our data protection and confidentiality procedures
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns.
Location: Shirley, Southampton, Hampshire
Time Commitment: 2 hours a week (Flexible)
To ensure the safety of the people we support, we will require a DBS check and two satisfactory references before a volunteer role is confirmed. As you will be volunteering directly with vulnerable individuals, you will also be required to undertake safeguarding training, as well as any training which is specific to the role.
