This is an opportunity to join a group of trustees of a well-regarded charity providing independent and high-quality mediation and conflict resolution services, in Hampshire, Dorset and beyond.
About the role
As a trustee you’ll be one of the people who share ultimate responsibility for governing the charity and directing how it is managed and run.
Duties include:
- Contributing, approving and monitoring their strategy and direction
- Overseeing their budget and financial position, reviewing and approving statements
- Making sure they comply with their governing document and the law, including required policies and procedures
- Supporting and challenging the CEO and staff where needed
- Identifying, monitoring and controlling risks to them and the contracted services
- Preparing for, attending and actively participate in meetings
Location: Hybrid, either home or the office in Southampton
Salary: Voluntary position, reasonable expenses can be reimbursed
Commitment: quarterly board meetings and preparation, AGM, ad hoc meetings and tasks, any additional responsibilities
About you
You’ll bring enthusiasm, energy and commitment to the role and their work. You’ll have good judgement and communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You do not need previous trustee/board experience, but an interest in developing your leadership and governance skills. Experience/training in conflict resolution or working with vulnerable clients or with social housing is desirable but not essential. Experience in accounting or marketing would also be of interest.
