Help the Homeless Funding – Providing financial support for hostels, drop-in centres and similar services. Deadline: Ongoing

About this opportunity

Help the Homeless

What we do

Providing financial support for hostels, drop-in centres and similar services that are working to help homeless people rebuild their lives and return to society through training or residential facility provision. Please note that grants are for capital projects only and are not awarded for projects that merely offer shelter – projects must help individuals returning to mainstream society.

Help the Homeless is a grant-giving trust, founded in 1975, to help homeless people off the streets and enable them to live healthy, independent lives. We fund a wide variety of organisations and favour small, grassroots charities working to help the most vulnerable people in their communities.

We rely on donations to continue this work and would be sincerely grateful for any gift you feel able to give – please help us reach more people in need by clicking here.

Criteria

  • Your organisation must be registered with the Charity Commission in England, Wales or Northern Ireland or a registered Scottish Charity.

  • Our funding is restricted to small charities with an annual turnover of less than £500,000.

  • We are only able to help charities working wholly or mostly with homeless people – we don’t fund general community work, foodbanks or projects that are not focussed on homelessness.

  • We can only accept applications towards the funding of capital projects. We are unable to accept applications towards running/core costs or salaries. Note: we are also unable to consider requests for computers and IT equipment.

  • We provide small grants of up to £5,000. We do not consider multi-year requests.

  • There should be a minimum period of two years between the receipt of a decision or grant from us and making a further application.
