We are writing to inform you of an upcoming change to the alcohol and drug treatment services in Southampton.
Effective 1 July 2026, Society of St James (SSJ) working in partnership with Inclusion (part of Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust), will take over the delivery of the Southampton alcohol and drug treatment service from Change Grow Live (CGL).
About the new partnership
The new service will operate under the name ‘SSJ&I alcohol and drug service’. This partnership brings together unique local and clinical expertise:
· Society St James (SSJ): A local charity with extensive experience delivering substance use and homelessness support across Hampshire.
· Inclusion (MPFT): A specialist NHS service bringing advanced clinical expertise in alcohol and drug treatment, evidence-based interventions, and integrated health support.
Together, our focus is on delivering person-centred, trauma-informed support that empowers individuals to move towards stability, recovery, and greater independence.

Our primary objective during this period is to ensure a seamless transition with minimal disruption to care. Please reassure your teams of the following:
· Partnership working: We will continue to work closely with all our system partners.
· Continuity of care: Treatment plans and core support structures remain safely in place.
· Prescribing arrangements: Prescribing arrangements will remain unchanged.
· Future changes: Should any operational updates or referral pathway adjustments be required in the future; these will be communicated clearly and in a timely manner.
