SCM Clothes Bank
The SCM Clothes Bank is part of the Basics Bank project and works on exactly the same referral system as the food banks. So people need a referral from a referral agent. All our referral agents can do referrals for food, clothes or food and clothes. So before anyone comes along to get clothes they need a digital voucher issued by a referral agent, in the same way that they do for food from the food bank. Clients can have up to four clothes bank referrals in a rolling year (whereas they can have six food bank referrals in a rolling year). Referrals can’t be issued by SCM or at the Clothes Bank. Each referral allows the client to have three complete outfits, plus shoes and a coat, per each member of the household. If they don’t find everything they need in one visit they will be issued with a slip to allow them to visit again to look for the items they were missing (they don’t need a new referral for a follow up visit).
It operates on Fridays between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM Saint Mary’s Church, Lodge Road. It also offers a community cafe with pay-as-you-can food and drink for anyone, even if not using the Clothes Bank.
