A new community choir has been launched at Countess Mountbatten Hospice.

The choir is open to anyone.  No previous singing or music experience is necessary to join.

“We want the group to be really organic and we hope people come along and enjoy getting together through singing,” said Countess Mountbatten Hospice’s music therapist, Alison Hughes.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned singer or someone who has never sung before.

“It’s about bringing members of the community together to have some fun and connect through music.”

Alison works at the hospice through a partnership with music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins.

Concerts and other fundraising events will be considered, once the choir has been established.

Weekly rehearsals will take place at The Hazel Centre at Countess Mountbatten Hospice on Mondays between 6pm and 7.30pm.

Limited free parking is available at the hospice, located at the Moorgreen Hospital site on Botley Road, Southampton.

This group is led by a local singing leader who has taken part in our BLF Singing programme. This means they’ve been trained to lead singing groups for people with lung conditions.
