Centric Community Projects – ensuring vacant commercial property is used FREE for local community projects in Southampton

About this opportunity

Centric Community Projects is a community support and placemaking organisation. We try to ensure that vacant commercial property is used for local community projects, to support the project directly, whilst also benefiting the wider community by having busy, vibrant and community-focused high streets, town centres and shopping centres. We are getting in touch today because we believe that you may be interested in the free community spaces that we have available in Southampton.

These units are located in:

  • The Bulb, Frobisher House, Nelson Gate, Southampton, Hampshire, SO15
  • Grenville House, Nelson Gate, Southampton, SO15 1GX.

Our charity has assisted over 1500 groups with free workspace over the past 12 years. We work closely with managing agents who have vacant properties which they would rather charities or community groups use than allow them to stand empty.  The cost of rent, service charges, business rates, building insurance, water, and electricity will be covered either by the landlord or Centric, so we offer these services free of charge to the end occupier.

Centric would take on a lease for the unit, which would contain a 30-day break clause.

The occupation for the community group is obtained through a 6-month auto-renewable licence. After every 6 months, we will review the occupation to ensure the benefit to the public before offering you a new agreement.

We have been offered the following units:

Ground & First Floors, Frobisher House 2,146.59 sq m

Ground Floor, Grenville House 320.1 sq m

First Floor, Grenville House 369.9 sq m

I don’t currently have any images of the units, however, you can get a feel for these buildings via the links below:
