Welcome to Community Playlink! 

Community Playlink is a registered charity operating FREE Toy Libraries and supporting Toddler Groups in Southampton. We now also run PLAYTIME sessions for Families with children from 0 – 3. Come and join in these fun sessions at our new base in Swaythling Neighbourhood Centre!

Community Playlink produces regular information to promote its services and there are planned fundraising events that staff and volunteers can take part in. We work in partnership with many organisations to further the aims, objectives and service delivery relying on funding from grants, individuals and activities.

Tuesday 10.00 am -2.00 pm

Wednesday 10.00 – 2.00 (including the Toddler Playgroup)

Saturdays 10.00 – 2.00

Activities of the Neighbourhood Centre:

1. Toddler Groups  Every Wednesday 10.30 a.m – 11.30 am

Toddler Groups are for families with children under five years of age, they are held in a variety of community-based venues across the city.

A Toy Library is a facility where parents, carers and groups can borrow high quality educational toys, sports and play equipment FREE OF CHARGE for their children from 0-14 years of age and beyond who live in Southampton.

How does the Toy Library work?

The Toy Library works like a book library where you borrow a set amount of items and return them within the stated time. You are able to register by simply completing a membership card.

Long term loans can be arranged and advice is given on the type of stock that parents may require. Bulk loans are available for all groups and childminders on a long term loan.

Toys Available

Community Playlink has a vast stock of every kind of toy and play equipment for children from 0-14 years of age. We cover the full stages of play from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to Key Stages 1-3. Also available are toys for children with special needs.

3. Toy Library Group Membership Scheme

While we are best known for our free toy libraries that operate across Southampton, we also offer support and resources to toddler groups in our city. We love what you do in your communities – you provide happy, fun and safe places for children and families to play and we want to support you!

With this in mind we are re-launching a way for your group to access support and resources through Community Playlink. We would like to invite you to join our Toy Library Group Membership Scheme.

For an annual fee of £10 your group can access the following benefits*:

  • Borrow equipment and toys for use during your session/s
  • Access advice and support for your group.
  • Have the opportunity to offer ‘play workshops’ hosted by Community Playlink.
  • Have the resources to offer a Toy Library of your own!
