Are you looking to give back to your local community, learn new skills, and help young people gain confidence for the future?
Explorer Scouts (young people aged 14 to 18) are looking for enthusiastic adult volunteers to help run our weekly evening sessions and weekend activities. Explorers lead their own program—from outdoor cooking and navigation to community projects and international trips—and our volunteers are there to guide, support, and supervise them along the way.
You don’t need any prior Scouting experience or outdoor expertise. Whether you’re a keen outdoor enthusiast, an admin wizard, a creative thinker, or simply someone with a few spare hours a week, there is a place for you on our team.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on your interest and availability, your role will involve:
-
Supporting Weekly Meetings: Assisting with running activities, team-building games, and practical skills sessions during weeknight unit meetings.
-
Mentoring & Guidance: Empowering teenagers to plan their own termly activities, Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) awards, and community challenges.
-
Supervising Outdoor Trips: Helping out on occasional weekend camps, hikes, water sports, or day trips.
-
Safety & Well-being: Ensuring activities are delivered safely in line with Scout safety guidelines.
