There’s a powerful local story here in Southampton that deserves to be shared, one that’s already making a real difference to men across the city.
Forge United is a men’s mental health football club based at Goals Millbrook. We run weekly sessions designed to give men a place to belong, talk, laugh, and take the weight off their shoulders, without pressure, judgement, or expectations.
Our message is simple: It’s okay not to be okay. What started as a small idea has quickly grown into a lifeline for men who were struggling in silence.
We now see players of all ages and abilities turning up each week, many of whom say the sessions have helped them reconnect, open up, and feel part of something again.
We’d love to help reach to more men who might need this space but don’t yet know it exists. I believe this story aligns strongly with the Echo’s commitment to community wellbeing and local impact.
Forge United meets every Wednesday at 8:15pm at Goals Millbrook, and the first week is free for anyone who wants to try it
