Headway Southampton and West Wessex

About this opportunity

Headway Southampton and West Wessex is an independent charity providing much needed support for adults with an acquired brain injury (ABI) across Southampton, West Hampshire, South Wiltshire and the Isle of Wight.

Every 90 seconds someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI), it can happen to anyone at any-time and every brain injury is different. In 2019, there were 7,851 hospital admissions (Headway UK) in our delivery area.  Coming to terms with the affects for survivors, their families and friends can be very distressing and difficult.  For some their injury is, to an extent hidden, so it’s easy for them to become isolated.

As part of our rehabilitation support, we provide a range of one-to-one and group activities from our Day Centre, On-line and across the community through support groups to reach as many in need of our service as possible. We provide these services to over 250 survivors each year as well as supporting their family and carers.
