Get Ready for Careers in Health and Social Care

Ages: 16-30
On this course, young people will:
Discover careers in Health and Social Care by connecting with local employers and training providers, building teamwork and problem‑solving skills, and getting hands-on experience through Care Reality’s VR technology.
Take part in an insight day at University Hospital Southampton, where NHS professionals will introduce you to the sector and share real-world insights. You’ll also receive practical support with your job search, including CV workshops and mock interviews, while developing essential skills such as safeguarding and confidentiality.
Plus, benefit from personalised one‑to‑one support to help you with job applications, interview preparation, and settling confidently into your first few months of employment.

Team: our personal development course

Location: Southampton
Ages: 16-25
Join Team, our 12-week personal development programme, for the chance to gain new skills, earn a qualification and meet like-minded people.
Young people will take part in a group community project, go on a fun-filled residential trip, and develop their English, maths, communication and teamwork skills.

Get Started with Outdoor Activities

Location: Southampton
Ages: 16-30
On this course, young people will:
This exciting outdoor adventure programme gives young people the chance to challenge themselves through a range of high‑ and low‑level outdoor activities. Participants will develop planning, risk assessment and leadership skills while working together to complete team challenges that build trust and communication.
The programme offers a supportive space to step outside your comfort zone, try new experiences, and discover new interests. Young people will also have the chance to meet new people and continue their development after the course through further KT opportunities and up to six months of mentoring to explore future pathways in training, education or employment.

On this course, young people will:
This creative and hands‑on programme introduces young people to the world of nails, providing training in Gel Manicure techniques and Nail Art using professional‑standard tools and materials. Participants will learn industry‑inspired skills that build confidence, precision and creativity, supported by guidance from experienced professionals who bring real insight into working in the beauty sector.
The programme gives young people the chance to connect with others who share similar interests, build their network, and explore what a future career in beauty could look like. Alongside the practical training, young people will receive tailored support to help them plan their next steps, whether that’s further study, starting their own enterprise, or moving towards employment or volunteering.

Looking for support to launch your business? Our free Enterprise programme is here to help you turn that dream into a reality.
With expert-led workshops, one-to-one support, and opportunities to apply for funding, we provide the tools you need to create a strong business plan and start a successful business.
Eligibility Criteria:

The programme is open to young people aged 18 to 30.
You must have the right to work in the UK, and you must intend for your business to operate in the UK
You must own, or plan to own, at least 50% of the business.

If you’ve already started your business, you must have been actively trading for less than 1 year.

Our Development Awards can cover the cost of course fees, tools or equipment to help young people achieve their goals. We offer grants of up to £500 to support young people into a positive outcome.
To be eligible for an Award, you must be:

Aged 16-30 and living in the UK
Studying less than 14 hours a week or not in compulsory education
Unemployed or working less than 16 hours a week

If you work directly with young people between 11-19 years (up to 25 with an EHCP) in any setting, and would like to work in partnership with the King’s Trust then the Achieve programme may be for you.
The fully funded and flexible Personal Development programme is delivered by you and at the pace and frequency of your choosing. Training and support will be offered by the Trust. The work can be accredited through the optional and chargeable Personal Development and Employability Skills and/or Developing Resilience qualifications.

Employability updates – March 2025

Youth Justice Service – Get Ready in Construction programmes
It’s been a really busy end of 2025 and start of 2026 on the Youth Justice Construction programmes front.
The success of these programmes have been fantastic and I wanted to share some highlights. First of all, the personal, social and professional skills development of all YP on these programmes has been exceptional. Many have not been in a school/education setting and surveys suggest that post programme, many have completed the programme with increased confidence and a positive outlook for future employment.
Dec 2026 – Southampton
9 young people to Taster Day and 7 invited and attending onto main programme. Plus 1 other who couldn’t attend Taster Day being invited onto main programme.
5 young people passing their Level 1 H&S Awareness course
7 young people passing their PASMA Tower Training (All that attended – 1 other absent for this day)
1 young person passing their CSCS test post programme (all engaging with mentoring)

11 young people passing their PASMA Tower Training
6 young people Passed their CSCS test post programme (all engaging with mentoring)
5 young people in employment
