About this opportunity

Get Started with Boxing programme, taking place at Pound for Pound Place, Southampton.

This programme is designed for NEET young people aged 16-30 who are interested in developing new skills, improving their wellbeing, exploring careers in fitness, and building confidence.

Programme Dates:

Taster Day: 22nd October
Main Programme: 26th-30th October

What Young People Will Gain

  • Learn new boxing skills and techniques
  • Explore the physical and mental health benefits of boxing
  • Learn how nutrition supports both body and mind
  • Meet like-minded young people
  • Develop leadership skills by learning how to coach others
  • Spend a week working alongside professional boxing coaches
  • Explore careers within the fitness sector
  • Receive support to work towards their future goals

Outcome Pathways

Following the programme, young people can access:

  • Up to 3 months of mentoring to help plan their next steps
  • Support into education, employment and volunteering opportunities
  • Funding for accredited training courses (up to £500)

Eligibility and Considerations

Age Range: 16-30

Restrictions:
There are no specific funding, qualification, or background restrictions. However, young people with a history of violent offending may require additional consideration to assess suitability for the programme.

Additional Considerations:
As this is a highly physical programme, mobility and physical health will need to be considered during the referral and assessment process.
