At Lloyds Bank Foundation, we fund small and local charities, investing in their work helping people overcome complex social issues across England and Wales. We support charities with an annual income of £25,000 to £1 million with a proven track record of helping people on a journey of positive change through in-depth, holistic and person-centred support. We offer unrestricted funding, including around core costs, and tailored development support to help your charity be more effective.
Racial Equity Funding
We support charities with an annual income of between £25,000 and £1 million with a strong track record of helping people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities overcome complex social issues. We offer a two-year unrestricted grant of £50,000 alongside development support to help your charity navigate change.
Criteria
This year, at least 25% of the grants we make will go to charities led by-and-for Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities. Under our Racial Equity funding strand, we support charities where more than half of their Trustee Board self-identify as belonging to a Black, Asian or minority ethnic community.
The scope of ‘Minority Ethnic communities’ includes those that have historically experienced marginalisation, racialisation, oppression and prejudice. Therefore, also in scope is work that benefits Jewish communities, Gypsy & Traveller communities and some migrant communities.
Your charity will support people from specific Black, Asian or minority ethnic communities to overcome any of the following 11 complex social issues:
- Addiction and dependency
- Asylum seekers and refugees
- Care leavers
- Domestic abuse
- Homelessness and vulnerably housed
- Learning disabilities
- Mental health
- Offending, prison or community service
- Sexual abuse and exploitation
- Trafficking and modern slavery
- Young parents
This funding is right for you if you can demonstrate that some of the services you provide are in-depth, holistic and targeted at a particular complex social issue. You’ll also be able to tell us about the needs of the community you serve, and how you’ve identified these.

Local Collaborations Programme – deadline 30/04/25
This programme will support collaborations led by small charities seeking to influence and achieve local or regional change around improving the social security system, improving access to suitable accommodation, and support for asylum seekers and refugees. Collaborations can apply for grants of £100,000 over two years.
This programme is aimed at supporting impactful collaborations that are led by small and local charities that have the specialist knowledge, compassion for people, and the drive to push for long lasting change.
We are awarding flexible grants of £100,000 over two years. Collaborations will have the opportunity to extend by a further year and additional £50,000. We anticipate making grants to 15 collaborations in this round of funding.

We would expect your influencing work to align with at least one of these themes:
- making the social security system work better for those facing the greatest challenges.
- making sure people facing complex issues have access to suitable accommodation.
- improving support and services for asylum seekers and refugees.
This funding cannot be used to fund direct delivery of services and is exclusively to support partnerships to influence locally and regionally.
