2. HOPE COMMUNITY SCHOOL:

Hope Community School is sponsored by New Generation Schools Trust, who established the school in recognition of the need for an additional educational choice in the city centre of Southampton. This new school is designated as of religious character, and is open to children of any or no faith. New Community is the partner church to Hope Community School. We are committed to supporting the school and contributing to its Christian ethos. We do this in a number of ways including:

  • Providing chaplaincy to the children, families and staff at the school

  • Volunteers from New Community Church support the school in many different ways: reading 1:1 with children who need a little extra support, running after school clubs, joining in playground fun, helping on school trips, running the prayer shed, supporting school coffee mornings, providing welcome bags for new reception parents, and more! Currently, over 30 volunteers give time each week to serve and support the school.

  • Providing a dedicated space for children to engage with our Christian values, think deeply about big issues and pray and reflect.

  • Offering a number of courses and groups to resource and support families in areas such a parenting or mental health – either run by ourselves or some of our fantastic partners across the city.

For more information, click on this link: New Generation Schools Trust – Southampton (newgenschools.org) Or Contact the school’s Family Liaison Co-ordinator, Claire Rodgers via email or call 07872 068822.

Update: The good news is that Hope Community School has secured the land opposite Central Hall as their permanent site. (Note: Part of the ex-East St complex)

3. CREATIVE ENGLISH: 9.30-11.30am, Wednesdays (term-time) Room 4

Creative English is for those who are learning English as a second (or more!) language. We use fun games, role play and real-life situations to learn English and build confidence – our focus is on having fun and being community together so that you can laugh your way to confident English!

The group is suitable for all levels, from complete beginners. Some of our more advanced speakers continue to join us as volunteers as they enjoy the fun and games so much!
