Performing Arts Volunteer

About this opportunity

Volunteer Opportunity:  Performing Arts Volunteer

Are you passionate about theatre, creativity, and making the arts accessible to everyone?

Blue Apple is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Volunteer to support one of our inclusive performing arts groups.

Session details

  • Day: Saturdays (term-time only)
  • Time: 10.00am–12.00pm
  • Venue: QE2 Activity Centre, River Hamble Country Park, Pylands Lane, Hedge End, Hampshire, SO31 1BH

This welcoming group gives people who have a learning disability and / or autism or brain injury the opportunity to explore drama, movement, storytelling, devising, and performance in a fun and supportive environment.

As a volunteer, you’ll work alongside the session facilitator to encourage participants, build confidence, join in with activities, and help create a positive and inclusive atmosphere. No two sessions are the same!

Throughout the year, you’ll also have the opportunity to support the group as they work towards:

  • For One Night Only 2027 – Blue Apple’s annual showcase, where all of our groups come together to perform on Saturday 13th February 2027.
  • Smaller performances and sharing events at the QE2 Activity Centre.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has an interest in performing arts, theatre, or creative activities.
  • Enjoys working with people and helping others to achieve their potential.
  • Is friendly, reliable, patient, and encouraging.
  • Is happy to join in with activities and support participants throughout the session.
  • Shares our passion for inclusion and believes everyone should have the opportunity to be creative.
  • Drives or has access to a lift as the area can only be reached by car.

You don’t need to be a professional performer; a passion for the arts and a willingness to learn with a positive attitude are the most important qualities.

Volunteering with Blue Apple is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in inclusive arts practice, meet like-minded people, and be part of an inspiring creative community.

If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you! Please email Rebecca Godden, Associate Director, at outreach@blueappletheatre.com with a few details about yourself and why you’re interested in volunteering.

Come and help us create ambitious, joyful and inclusive theatre across Hampshire!
